In a groundbreaking moment for the Nigerian music industry, Ashny and Mooh have joined forces to release SHemancipation, widely regarded as the first-ever collaborative album by two female Nigerian artistes.

Coming on the heels of the success of Ashny’s Femalepreneur album, which was launched on December 14, 2025, at a star-studded event held at the Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos, the new project further cements her reputation as one of the most daring and unconventional female voices in Nigerian music.

At a time when collaborations among female acts in Nigeria remain relatively rare, SHemancipation stands out as a bold and refreshing statement of unity, creativity, and sisterhood.

Mooh, the sonorous singer known for her growing catalogue of impressive singles including Lamba, is no stranger to working with Ashny. She previously featured on He Belongs To Me from Ashny’s Femme Fatale album, a spirited exchange reminiscent of classics like Brandy and Monica’s The Boy Is Mine and Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney’s The Girl Is Mine. She also appeared on Sis To Sis from the Femalepreneur project.

With an undeniable chemistry and blossoming friendship, it became only natural for both vocal powerhouses to step into the studio for a full-length collaborative effort.

Work on the album began in December 2025, and under the creative guidance of Koffi Tha Guru, who penned all the songs, the duo remarkably completed the 8-track project within just one week.

SHemancipation is an afrogroovy conscious masterpiece centered on themes of empowerment, self-awareness, relationships, societal expectations, emotional intelligence, and the realities of modern womanhood. The album continues the deeply reflective and motivational storytelling that has become synonymous with the Ashny brand.

Tracks include:

Like A Man:
This track is an afro fused track that blends traditional juju and pop elements. It speaks to the need for women to be up to the task in all endeavours just like men. Women should not feel less or remain labelled ‘weak’. It also celebrates a lot of very distinguished and established women in the walk of life.

SHero:
This track is an afrofusion track that blends R&B and soul delivery driven by rich percussion. It encourages women to be great support partners to their men. Showing up and sharing in the financial, mental and emotional parts of their relationship.

Amina:
Driven by a dancehall groove, this track speaks to a lot of the challenges the girl child is facing especially in areas where bandits and terrorists hold sway. It begs for the release of kidnapped girls and succour for young girls suffering from VVF.

POW:
This is a hiphop and pop groovy tune to celebrate finesse and enlighten ladies on the need to always clean up before they step out in public. Short for POWDER, this song is delightful and playful to the ears.

ChoChoCho:
This track is a full hiphop tune delivered in pidgin parlance to further drive home the message about the retrogressive use of social media. It admonishes against unnecessary waste of time over gossip and unproductive engagements.

SHenanigans:
A playful afrofusion dramatic track driven by traditional west African groove. It mirrors the boastful and show off nature of people who like to keep up with the jones’s. Both ladies brag to have the better man only to find out at the end they have both been dating the same man. Feeling played and disappointed rather than fight to finish they take the high road and mend fences as ‘women supporting women’
