Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 21-year-old suspected armed robber after recovering a suspected human body part, firearms, and other incriminating items during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The suspect, identified as Samson Onilewaji, was apprehended after police intercepted an unregistered commercial shuttle bus carrying six occupants. A search of the vehicle and its passengers led to the discovery of a suspected human right hand concealed in the suspect’s possession.
Also recovered from him were two locally made pistols, one live cartridge, two axes, one POS terminal, and five ATM cards believed to have been stolen from robbery victims.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to recently robbing three individuals of their valuables, including the recovered POS terminal and ATM cards. Police are currently working to trace and identify the victims so their belongings can be returned.
Investigators have also launched a separate probe to determine the identity of the owner of the suspected human hand, the circumstances surrounding its possession, and its intended use. Efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal network linked to the suspect.
The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
